Species of Fish for Aquariums

If you are about to set up the freshwater aquarium, then there are various options that require the proper attention like set up, equipments, maintenance etc. However the most important of all is choosing the appropriate freshwater fish for the aquariums. It is a delusion that the tropical fishes are best suited for the aquariums, whereas they are preferred only for the salty water. However, there are few types of fresh water fish which fall in the classification of tropical fish.

The species of fishes which are best suited for the aquariums belong to the Cichlidae Family, Corydoradinae Family, Poecilidae Family and Characidae Family. The Cichlidae Family consists of about 1300 species of fishes and are most commonly known as cichlids. Among this family, perhaps the most popular is the angel fish. This species of fish can be nourished with ease and they are referred as easy breeders. However if there are some aggressive species present in the aquarium then you need to separate the eggs of these species from the aggressive ones. The species of Corydoradinae Family exhibit the nocturnal characteristics. In other words this species of fishes is active at night or under the dim light.

The Characidae Family includes 1500 species and they are preferred for the aquariums only if there are no aggressive species present. This species of fish is very fragile and delicate and the aggressive species can certainly cause the serious damage to these species. These fishes are the bright color fishes among which the lemon and neon tetras are the brightest fishes. The Poecilidae Family includes species like swordtails, mollies and guppies. These species are extremely small in size and certain precautions must be taken if they are sharing the aquarium with the energetic species. They have the capability of reproduction i.e. they can give birth to their young ones.

The fishing kit you carry with you for the sport should be managed appropriately as per the needs and hobby. Various equipments compose the fishing kits and a brief awareness about them all must be possessed to get the best of your fishing experience. For coarse fishing, different kinds of fishing rods are available to carry out a specific job. Before selecting a fishing rod, do acquaint self with the term “test curve”. Test curve is the weight required to pull down the top end horizontally at the bottom. Thus, it is directly proportional to the measure of stiff/ strong quality of the rod. The fitting of reels on the rods should be tested before making a buy. Float rods, Waggler rods, Pike rods, Spinning rods, Ledger rods, Feeder rods are some the many types of rods available in the market based on various differing functions they serve.

Once you have selected your fishing rod, the turn is to reels. Reels are selected keeping in view their turns to be smooth with anti – reverse being positive and the clutch being working smoothly. The reel spool should be taken care of not being too deep. Do never forget to fill in the reel spool fully with line (be aware I am not asking you to overfill it!) to cast a fish without losing one. Types of reels being float, ledger, and carp do serve specific purposes and should be chosen accordingly.

Another aspect playing a great role in pacing the catch rates are tackles for which correct hooks selection is really important. The sizes in hooks are in inverse to the marketing numbers for ex: a size 14 hook will be smaller than size 16. The hook wire depends on the catch i.e. fine, medium or heavy. Gape, bend, shank, point, eye are the facets of a hook to be carefully looked on while purchasing one. Also, lines, lures (natural or artificial) and rigs should be bought before the fishing voyage is on!
